This install takes 20 - 30 minutes of actual work and a bit of time to allow the old fluid to drain. This is really easy, if not a little messy. Click on the images for larger views. WARNING: * Your car must be on a lift or up on jack stands to do this - you should not do this fluid change with only one end of the car up in the air as you will have problems completely draining the old fluid and not over/under filling with new fluid. The car needs to be level to do this correctly. Note: * Go to a marine supply and buy a gear oil pump they sell for use with outboard engines. This will set you back around but will save you an enormous amount of aggravation caused by the use of a regular siphon pump (trust me). I've since seen these gear oil pumps at WalMart as well. Step 1: Getting the required items together This install requires: * 2 Qts. of Royal Purple SyncroMax. Probably a good idea to buy 3 Qts. * A lift or hydraulic jack and jack stands (see how to jack up the car here) * Socket wrench * 8mm socket * 17mm socket * Torque wrench (with a range of 50ft lb +) * Breaker Bar * Gear Oil or Siphon pump * Drain pan (oil drain pan works great) * A BMW M3 (E46). * 20 - 30 minutes of free time. Note: You should warm up the transmission fluid before draining it. Drive the car around enough to warm things up (don't just let it sit and idle). Combo Regulator Water Filter and Inline Air Line Oil Lubricator Overview

This air regulator and lubricator set is wall mountable for convenient installation next to your compressor or air source. Regulator and lubricator can be used together as pictured, or removing the hex screws in the coupling between the two units will allow the use of either component independently. The regulator removes water and other contaminants from the airflow, collecting them in a removable catch-bowl, where they can be expelled with the spring-loaded release valve. The regulator features an adjustable pressure control knob; pull up and turn the black knob to set desired output pressure (pushing down on the knob locks the current setting). The lubricator unit is designed to be filled with pneumatic tool oil, and it will release measured amounts of oil into the airflow; protecting and lubricating all connected tools (oil release-rate is adjustable). Using both units together will deliver clean, lubricated, moisture-free air to your tools. Airflow direction is permanently marked on both components to make installation a breeze (both units have standard 1/4" BSP female inlets and outlets). Do not use the lubricator with paint spray guns or other tools that do not require oil in the airflow (regulator only can be used for airbrushing or other paint equipment). Rated up to 145 psi (gauge displays up to 150 psi). Unit is shipped empty; oil not included.

A short tutorial to demonstrate how to change oil on your water cooled 911. Applies to 996 and 997 cars - and quite similar for Boxsters and Caymans. Even Turbos and GT3 will be similar (although there's a secondary drain plug on them). I also demonstrate how to open up the filter to inspect for metal particles. A few metal particles is normal - a lot shows excessive wear. Drain plug torque = 37 ft.lbs. Oil filter torque = 19 ft.lbs.
